Flaco escaped from the Central Park Zoo in 2023, surviving in the wild for a full year. This was particularly impressive, given that he was born into captivity. After his year-long adventure, Flaco died by flying into a building on the Upper West Side of Manhattan - a fate that unfortunately befalls approximately 250,000 birds every year in NYC.
All net profit from the sale of this design will be donated to NYC Audubon, an organization that works to protect habitats of wild birds in the five boroughs, and is working with lawmakers to adopt new safety standards for tall buildings, making them more bird-friendly.
